Song of the South, like Skynyrd’s Sweet Home Alabama, is almost like an anthem for those of us who grew up in Alabama. On this day back in 1989, it became Alabama’s 24th number one hit on the Billboard Hot Country charts. They would follow this one up with another number one hit for If I Had You. Enjoy!
