Montgomery Gentry Nominated For “Duo Video Of The Year”
For The 2012 CMT Music Awards

New Single “So Called Life” Shipped to Radio

Montgomery GentryNashville, TN (April 23, 2012) — Montgomery Gentry’s music video for their Top 10 radio smash, “Where I Come From,” has been nominated in the “Duo of the Year” category for the upcoming 2012 CMT Music Awards. Voting begins today, April 23, on CMT.com.

The powerful music video, shot from a deployed soldier’s viewpoint, is one of the most intense, influential videos ever done by the duo and they are proud the video has been recognized by their peers. “This is awesome! This song has had a lot of meaning to me and T-Roy and it is an honor to be nominated,” says Eddie Montgomery. “We’re just so proud of all of our military heroes and this was a way of paying tribute.”

Troy Gentry adds, “Its always exciting when something you are extremely proud of is recognized by peers and friends. We are so thankful for the amazing response this song has received. Eddie and I have always sang songs that are close to our hearts and this nomination for such a powerful video makes us proud.”

Directed by Potsy Ponciroli and produced by Chris Conner from Team Genius Productions, the video was shot in a California desert and a rock quarry in Nashville, TN.  Working closely with the video treatment, Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry wanted to honor the troops and the towns “where they come from.”  The video opens with a battlefield scene with a wounded soldier laying on the ground.  While his fellow soldiers try to rescue him, he is having flashbacks and memories of his beloved hometown.

The 2012 CMT Music Awards will air LIVE from Nashville on Wednesday, June 6 on CMT and CMT.com. Fans can vote online at CMT.com, and on their mobile device at CMT Mobile or the CMT Insider app available on iPhone, iPad and Android now through June 4 to determine the winners.

So Called Life,” the follow-up single to their recent Top 10 radio hit, has been shipped to radio and is going for adds on Monday, April 30. For up-to-date information on Montgomery Gentry, visit www.montgomerygentry.com

Nashville, TN (January 25, 2012) — Montgomery Gentry’s music video for their latest single, which is #17 this week, is hitting the hearts of Americans with over 1.3 million views of “Where I Come From” and thousands of comments on the award-winning duo’s YouTube page. The powerful music video, shot from a deployed soldier’s viewpoint, is one of the most intense, influential videos ever done by the duo.

“We’ve met many of our American Heroes along the way and they have always talked about how thinking of ‘where they come from’ is what motivates them in difficult times,” explains Eddie Montgomery. “It was important for us to make this video as close to real as we could.”

Troy Gentry adds, “We are really proud of this song and the music video. Just as our music is always about things we have seen or lived, the depth of this single is real.  We’re happy our friends are responding to it.”

“Where I Come From” is the lead single from Montgomery Gentry’s new album, Rebels On The Run, released on their new label home, Average Joe’s Entertainment.

Nashville, TN (January 20, 2012)—Average Joe’s Entertainment’s multi-platinum, hit-making duo, Montgomery Gentry, break into the Top 20 with their new single, “Where I Come From.” Positioned at #19 on both MediaBase and Billboard, the duo is marking their territory with a truly identifiable song that is sure to become yet another staple song in the careers of this unstoppable award-winning duo. This chart success adds to more than 20 charted singles, with anthems like “My Town” and “Hell Yeah” becoming indelible parts of the honky-tonk landscape.

“It’s a song that’s about our fans. Regardless of where you end up in life, you always remember your hometown. There are special things you remember in life, and your childhood days and high school years,” explains Troy Gentry. “ I think anyone who hears this song will be able to listen to and reflect on their earlier years in life, and the place they grew up, and appreciate the lyrics of the song.”

“Where I Come From,” written by Rodney Clawson and Dallas Davidson, is the first single off their seventh studio album, Rebels On The Run, released late in 2011 and the first album released on powerhouse Indie label Average Joe’s Entertainment.

Country Stars Born Today – Deborah Allen, Marty Stuart And Eddie Montgomery – Enjoy Their Biggest Hits

On this day in 1953, Deborah Allen was born in Memphis, Tennessee. Back in 1983, Deborah enjoyed a lot of success on the country charts when she charted two top five singles: Baby I Lied (#4) and I’ve Been Wrong Before (#2). While I’ve Been Wrong Before is her highest charting country single, she’s most remembered for Baby I Lied because it was not only a country hit, but also a crossover hit on the pop charts.

Marty Stuart was born on this day back in 1958 in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Marty is a fixture at the Grand Ole Opry, and he’s a former president of the Country Music Foundation. He’s married to another country music legend, Connie Smith. Marty’s charted over 35 singles on the Billboard Hot Country charts. His highest charting solo single was 1991′s Tempted.

Eddie Montgomery is one-half of the very successful duo of Montgomery Gentry. Eddie was born on this day back in 1963 in Lancaster, Kentucky. Montgomery Gentry have five number one singles to their credit, but rather than feature one of them here, I want to feature one of the coolest moments I’ve seen on video in a long time. In honor of Eddie’s birthday, here’s footage of he and Troy getting an unexpected invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry by country legend Charlie Daniels. The joy and appreciation in both their faces is priceless.
