One Of The Best Songs Ever Recorded – I’m No Stranger To The Rain by Keith Whitley – Moved Up To #1 Today In 1989

Keith Whitley’s voice was pure country gold. I’m No Stranger To The Rain was and still is one of my favorite country music songs of all-time. It was the third of five number one singles in a row for Whitley, and it was the last single released from his 1988 Don’t Close Your Eyes album. It hit number one on the Billboard Hot Country charts on this day back in 1989. Whitley died just one month and one day later on May 9, 1989.

He struggled his entire life with alcoholism and finally succumbed to the disease at the young age of 34. He was taken away way, way too soon, but his music still lives on. Enjoy this classic number one hit from this troubled but immensely talented country legend.

Song of the South, like Skynyrd’s Sweet Home Alabama, is almost like an anthem for those of us who grew up in Alabama. On this day back in 1989, it became Alabama’s 24th number one hit on the Billboard Hot Country charts. They would follow this one up with another number one hit for If I Had You. Enjoy!
