Kathy Mattea has been entertaining crowds since 1983. In 1988, she scored her first of four number one Billboard Hot Country singles with Goin’ Gone. On this day back in 2006, Carrie Underwood’s Jesus, Take The Wheel began it’s six-week run atop the Billboard Hot Country charts. It was her first number one hit on the Hot Country charts. Her debut single Inside Your Heaven was a number one hit, but only on the Hot 100 and Pop charts. It peaked at #52 on the country charts. P.S. Did you know that besides Inside your Heaven, Carrie’s only had three singles, Don’t Forget To Remember Me (#2), I Told You So w/Randy Travis and Mama’s Song (#2), that haven’t reached number one on the country charts. That’s pretty darn impressive to say the least.
